Improving
Your Soccer Skills Through Vision Training Why
in the world would you take time to read this? Maybe the title
got your attention because your visual abilities are key to your
athletic performance. Although I never played Soccer, my life
has revolved around athletes, having played several sports
through college and Semi-pro, I guarantee you will improve your
skills in Soccer by reading and taking action on what you learn. Traveling
overseas to Africa, Europe, Caribbean, Mexico, and Australia, I
found Soccer (football) being played in stadiums and even fields
in Africa where they were playing with rolled up “T” shirts
taped together to resemble a ball. Soccer is all over the place. Soccer
is one game where the player and ball are almost constantly in
motion with the ball changing directions very often. There are
no time outs to call plays or the ability to stop play by
catching and throwing the ball (except goalie). The thing I
would find the toughest in Soccer, is running. In my
observation of Soccer there are many skills used. Dribbling,
field skills, ball skills, moving quickly and expertly off the
ball, receiving the ball, bring the ball out under control,
maintaining a 360 degree vision both on and off the ball,
feigning and learning to use both feet and your head to hit the
ball. That
was quite a mouthful! These are things I found in reading and
from watching Soccer. There was not one point made about
improving the skill you use the most: Vision. Over 90% of the
time you use your vision to put those skills in action. Think
about this; “All action or reaction in athletics is a result
of a visual cue. How fast and accurately you ‘see’ the
situation determines the outcome of the play.” Not
only is the above true, the eyes also control your balance. Try
standing on one leg with your eyes open, and then shut them and
see the difference. You’ll find it hard to balance yourself.
THE MIND CAN ONLY CONSIDER WHAT IT SEES. Train the eyes for
quick and accurate decisions. In
our research of top athletes and military Fighter Pilots, we
found they all had above average recognition, (how fast you can
see) and motility (the ability to move the eyes faster from
point to point). I am sure this would be true of top Soccer
players. THESE SKILLS ARE TRAINABLE. As
little as 30 sessions at 10-20 minutes a day will bring your
perceptual skills up to their potential. Your successful play
ratio will grow dramatically over your unsuccessful play. Our
users improve 30-50%. Check out our other sport features
and learn more about how vision comes into play. Give it a
stab, or in your case, give it a kick! API's Trigger
Visual Training System techniques employ the latest computer software
program available to train accurate motility skills. We also teach players how
to use and improve the most important visual skills: recognition and faster
and more accurate "seeing" skills. Players, with improved visual skills,
gain an advantage over their opponents. The player can work on his own at his
own time and own rate.
